Land of Burns Trophy
Neil Donnachie has been in touch with George and Pat Sinclair to ask if anyone from the club can help Ricky Taylor of Ayr Seaforth, to locate the Land of Burns Trophy.
The trophy was won by Octavians in 1969 and apparently the last known sighting of the cup is in the photograph shown in the gallery in this website
An Octavian who was a member of the successful 1969’s team has confirmed that he was also in the team that returned to Dam Park to defend the trophy in 1970, in vain. However he has no recollection of which team won it that year.
So where is it and who’s got it?
If anyone does have any information which they think may help in the search, please use the comment facility in this web site to pass on the information.
ie,
Were you a member of a subsequent winning team or have you seen the trophy at any time post 1970?
Thank you

Hello, folks, Donald Burr here, I have just read your plea as to the whereabouts of the Land O’Burns Trophy. I was team manager that Saturday,17th May 1969 and as Club Secretary kept the Trophy until I handed it over to Ian Grant in January 1970 at the Annual Dinner on the 19th. I was leaving Edinburgh to take up a new appointment with Wimpey’s in Manchester.
